Ever since Mark Pope’s return to Lexington, the BBN has been clamoring for more matchups with former coach Rick Pitino. We got that last year in the CBS Classic.

Now, it appears that could be coming in the next year.

According to a report by Jon Rothstein, the Cats and Johnnies are in discussions that would start a series between the two programs next November at Arthur Ashe Stadium.

This would add another marquee non-conference opponent for the Cats as they continue to bolster one of the best in the country. However, it will be interesting to see how this develops.

No game is set in stone yet, but with the report you have, you have to think it will be close. Especially if a return to Rupp Arena happens, it will be one of the most anticipated games and the return of Pitino to Rupp Arena.

“I want to go back to Rupp (Arena) and play them, and I certainly want to play them here,” Pitino said of Kentucky on Inside College Basketball Now. “But my captain keeps saying that, and I never see a contract.”

A big game we can now wait to see if it comes to fruition.
