The WNBA regular season is nearing its conclusion, and with the defending champions Las Vegas Aces still out there defending their title, A’Ja Wilson is expected to defend her crown as the league’s MVP.
However, the road to a record-breaking five MVP honors is a bumpy one, with the likes of Olivia Miles, Caitlin Clark, Kelsey Mitchell, Paige Bueckers, and Breanna Stewart trying to take that title away from Wilson.
Despite the challenge, WNBA legend Lauren Jackson believes Wilson will still rise above everyone.
During her visit to the Philippines for NBA House, Jackson made her feelings known when asked who her WNBA MVP this year would be, according to All-Star Magazine, by simply saying, “A’ja. A’ja Wilson.”
When asked to explain her selection, Jackson added, “She has had another remarkable season, and I don’t think anyone can really stack up to her. There are so many great players over there. Obviously, I love Stewie. She’s a great player. But there’s also Paige Bueckers and Caitlin Clark. Actually, I’m naming everyone now, but I would say A’ja.”
Given how Wilson has dominated so far this season, it would be difficult to kick her off that pedestal. She’s already surpassed her 2025 scoring average of 23.4 points by putting up 26.0 points per game this season, while the closest second is Mitchell with 24.8 points, followed by Clark, who’s averaging 22.1 points.

While a lot of people are still debating on this season’s MVP, Lauren Jackson shifted her focus on who really is the greatest WNBA player in history by throwing in A’Ja Wilson’s name in the conversation.
Over the last few years, stars like Diana Taurasi, Cynthia Cooper, Lisa Leslie, and Sue Bird has always been identified as the league’s greatest players, but none of which has really separated herself from the flock.
However, Jackson believes Wilson is on her way in doing so after such dominant performances over the last four seasons.
In an interview with All-Star Magazine, the WNBA legend talked about how Wilson can now be considered the league’s greatest of all time.
“I just think it’s her pure dominance, especially in an era when the league has grown so much,” said Jackson. “She has been unstoppable for a period of time, so it’s been awesome to watch. And then, obviously, she’s a four-time, possibly five-time, MVP. It’s hard to argue against that.”
Wilson may just be inching closer to her fifth WNBA MVP title, but what would cement her status as the WNBA’s greatest player in history would be a fourth WNBA championship. That is, if they could get past everybody else come the playoffs.
