Saturday’s 75-61 win over UNC was both satisfying and distressing. It was distressing because Pat Ngongba started the game with a boot on and Caleb Foster ended the game one on his foot as well.
Ngongba’s situation is not that serious: the injury report said that it would be a game-time decision, and the decision was no. He should be back soon.
Foster? Probably not. It didn’t look good.
Other than that though, it was a wonderful win. Duke pulled away from the Heels and just kept going. The lead eventually swelled to 25 before Carolina cut that down to a more reasonable deficit.
Too little, too late, but still better than losing by 25. At that point, honestly, 30 seemed very possible.
Duke got monster performances from Cameron Boozer, Dame Sarr, and Maliq Brown. The highlights are tremendously fun to watch. It wasn’t a classic Duke-UNC game, the kind that leads Jay Bilas to say that the rivalry never disappoints, but it was undeniably fun for Duke fans.
