LaTrevion Fenderson will focus on academics and not play as a freshman, UW coach Greg Gard told reporters after the Badgers’ exhibition win over UW-Parkside.
“So that’s why he is not going to dress all year,” Gard said.
Fenderson, a Racine native, was one of the highest-rated recruits in the state in the 2026 recruiting class. He played at The Prairie School before transferring to DME Academy at St. John’s Northwestern in Delafield for his senior season.
The Badgers also will be without freshman guard Josh Manchester, who suffered a season-ending shoulder injury in practice.
That still leaves UW with eight available guards on the 2026-27 roster – Owen Foxwell, Eian Elmer, Jack Janicki, Braeden Carrington, Trey Autry, Hayden Jones, Zach Kinziger and Jackson Ball. Carrington’s status could change, though, depending on the outcome of his lawsuit against the NCAA.
