USC Announces Jazzy Davidson Update Ahead of NCAA Tournament

Big Ten Freshman of the Year and USC Trojans star guard Jazzy Davidson suffered from a right shoulder injury last week during the 76-64 loss against the Washington Huskies at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

It was a bad news for all USC fans who know how much of a crucial role the 19-year-old has played for Trojans’ solid campaign throughout the regular season. Currently she ranks among the top Big Ten scorers, averaging 17.6 points, 5.7 rebounds and 4.2 assists.

Moreover, her 2.0 blocks and 2.0 steals per game highlight her defensive side too. In short, she’s been an all-round player for the Trojans and that’s why the news regarding her injury was worrisome ahead of the NCAA Tournament. But on Wednesday, the team shared a huge update on Davidson’s recovery.

The official account of USC Women’s Basketball confirmed that “Jazzy Davidson will be available for the NCAA Tournament after sustaining an injury during the Big Ten Tournament.”

Earlier this month, Davidson was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Year, courtesy her remarkable performance game after game. She became the first USC player ever to win this honor.

Admiring her consistency for the Trojans, coach Lindsay Gottlieb previously said, “she’s just capable of doing almost anything on a basketball court. She’s unique. I know there are several good freshmen in the country. We know how good she is. We see it every day, and we think there’s no one better.”

With the latest update on Davidson’s return, the Trojans look all set for the NCAA Tournament.
