Michigan State basketball is gearing up for one of it's biggest road contests of the season, travelling to West Lafayette (IN) to face off with Purdue inside of Mackey Arena. It is no secret that Mackey is the Spartans kryptonite, with the Spartans having not won there since 2013.
While gearing up for the game, Tom Izzo spoke to the media about his team and their preparation.
- "The biggest thing about playing down there is they've been good 99% of the time I've been here. When they're not good, which is only a few times, they're always competitive."
- Cam Ward and Jesse McCulloch "gotta do more." Met with MSU freshman forward Ward for a while Monday, he added. "He hasn't played with quite the same recklessness" since his wrist injury "and I think he needs to do that for us."
- Izzo says players held a meeting Sunday; he gave bullet points to talk about but was not involved. Says he was disappointed in MSU's performance vs OSU, but "it's move forward." Feels it may have just been a "slip-up" game. "You need to be getting better at the end of the year."
