Penn likely wouldn't have stood a chance against the Yale Bulldogs without ex-Duke forward TJ Power in the Ivy League conference tournament final, but luckily for the Quakers, that was not the case.
The forward delivered the first 40-point game in Ivy League Tournament history. Originally, he was the first to score 30 since Bryce Aiken for Harvard in 2019.
He finished the game with 44 points on 53% shooting from the field, and he also shot 50% from beyond the arc (7-for-14), along with going a perfect 9-for-9 from the line. Here's the rundown from today's game when he became just the second player in the last 20 seasons to record 40-plus points and 10-plus rebounds in a conference championship game.

Power hit seven threes today, including a desperation shot from the right wing to send the championship to overtime. He had 23 points at halftime before finishing with the second-most points by a Penn player in school history.

TJ Power highlights from Ivy League championship
Power finished with the second-most points in a Penn basketball game (Ernie Beck: 47 points vs. Duke in the 1952-53 season) when they needed him most.
At halftime, the forward already tallied 23 points on 53% shooting and eight rebounds.

TJ Power regulation buzzer beater
One of Power's biggest shots of his college career came at the end of regulation to send Yale-UPenn to overtime. Here is the shot:

Penn vs. Yale score
Penn was able to defeat Yale by a final score of 88-84. Yale led by as many as nine points.
Along with Power's heroics today, UPenn hit all 16 of its free throws. Those points were huge going down to the wire, as they needed every one of those charity stripe points to force the game into overtime, and later win.
Yale's Trevor Mullin hit two clutch free throws to put the Bulldogs up by three with 5.9 seconds left. In just 3.5 seconds, UPenn was able to find Power for his equalizing three with 2.4 seconds left, to cap off his 10 straight points scored for the Quakers. Yale's full-court heave clanked off the rim, which signified five more minutes needing to be played to separate the two Ivy League teams.

TJ Power has played for three college basketball teams during his tenure as a DI athlete.
Duke Blue Devils
In the 2023-24 season, Power was a part of the Duke Blue Devils. He joined two years after historic coach Mike Krzyzewski retired from the program.
At Duke, Power suited up for 26 games and averaged 2.1 points, 0.7 rebounds and 0.2 assists. On average, he played 6.7 minutes per game.
Virginia Cavaliers
Power transferred to Virginia for the 2024-25 season, who were in the national championship just five years prior in 2019. Longtime coach Tony Bennett announced his departure from the team just weeks before the season.
As a Cavalier, Power started in five games and suited up for 24 contests. He averaged 1.3 points, a rebound and 0.6 assists.
Penn Quakers
Following his Cavalier tenure, Power transferred again, this time to the University of Pennsylvania. He found his footing in Philadelphia and helped the team clinch its first berth to the NCAA Tournament since 2018.
As a Quaker, Power started all 28 games and averaged 15.8 points while shooting almost 45% from the field, with 7.6 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.1 steals.
