One metric has released its preseason rankings for the Syracuse Orange women’s basketball team heading into the upcoming year.
Syracuse will open the 2026-27 season ranked No. 65 overall and 13th in the ACC, according to Bart Torvik.
The metric has the Orange with top-75 marks on both ends of the court. That includes No. 61 on offense and No. 70 on defense.
Here’s how Syracuse stacks up compared to the rest of the conference:
- Duke: No. 6
- Louisville: No. 8
- North Carolina: No. 9
- Notre Dame: No. 20
- NC State: No. 28
- Clemson: No. 31
- Florida State: No. 33
- California: No. 34
- Miami: No. 41
- Virginia: No. 43
- Virginia Tech: No. 44
- Stanford: No. 51
- Syracuse: No. 65
- Georgia Tech: No. 67
- SMU: No. 68
- Pittsburgh: No. 91
- Wake Forest: No. 118
- Boston College: No. 211
Regarding Syracuse’s upcoming schedule, the new data certainly casts a better light on the road ahead this season.

Starting with the non-conference slate, Syracuse will face four opponents ranked in the top-75 in Bart Torvik: Oklahoma (No. 15), Auburn (No. 47), Wisconsin (No. 63), and Harvard (No. 72). Notably, all of those games will either be on the road or at a neutral site.
The non-con schedule also features two other teams in the top-180: Southern (No. 157) and Siena (No. 178). Cornell is at No. 272, while the remaining four non-con opponents (Sacred Heart, Canisius, Le Moyne, and Bucknell) rank outside the top-300.
As expected with the ACC slate, it will be quite the gauntlet for the Orange.
The team will play 14 games — over three-quarters of its conference games and around half of its 2026-27 schedule — against ACC teams ranked No. 75 or higher in Bart Torvik. That includes three top-25 opponents at home — North Carolina, Notre Dame, and NC State — plus two on the road (Duke and Louisville).
Syracuse also gets nine games against teams ranked in the top 50 or top 75. Three are at home (Miami, Virginia, and SMU) and six are on the road (Virginia Tech, Florida State, California, Clemson, Stanford, and Georgia Tech).
Here’s a closer look at the breakdown:
- Home top 25: North Carolina, Notre Dame, NC State
- Road top 25: Duke, Louisville
- Home top 50: Miami, Virginia
- Road top 50: Virginia Tech, Florida State, California, Clemson
- Home top 75: SMU
- Road top 75: Stanford, Georgia Tech
Syracuse will open the 2026-27 campaign on Tuesday, November 3 versus Sacred Heart.
