Syracuse men’s basketball announces it will host Binghamton

The 2026-2027 Syracuse men’s basketball schedule continues to grow as the Orange have officially added their ninth non-conference game (12 rumored – Albany, St. John’s, Rutgers have been discussed not yet been assigned a date to confirm) against the Binghamton Bearcats on December 22.

Syracuse has never lost to Binghamton (6-0 all time against the upstate NY foe), and opened their season against them last year with an 85-47 drubbing of the Bearcats. This matchup will mark the first time the two teams have faced off in back-to-back seasons since 2004 and 2005.

This is another example of Coach Gerry McNamara showing that he wants to get the local mid-majors to make the trip to the Dome after previously announcing that the Orange would square off next season with Canisius and Colgate.

All in all, a very winnable game for the Orange, as Binghamton finished with an 8-23 record last season.

After this announcement, the Orange only now have two unannounced non-conference opponents remaining.

So far, Syracuse’s non-conference schedule looks as follows:

  • November 9: Indiana (Gainbridge Fieldhouse, Indianapolis)
  • November 21: Lafayette (JMA Wireless Dome)
  • December 1: at Oklahoma (ACC/SEC Challenge)
  • December 8: Colgate (JMA Wireless Dome)
  • December 16: Canisius (JMA Wireless Dome)
  • December 19: Providence (TD Garden, Boston)
  • December 22: Binghamton (JMA Wireless Dome)
  • Date TBD: vs UAlbany
  • Date TBD: at St. John’s (Madison Square Garden)
  • Date TBD: Rutgers (Barclays Center)
  • Exhibition Game, October 13: UConn (Mohegan Sun, Uncasville)
  • Exhibition Game, October 24: Niagara (KeyBank Center, Buffalo)

SU’s ACC opponents have also been revealed, with a fascinating home slate including games against Duke, North Carolina, Virginia, and Louisville.
