UConn guard Silas Demary Jr. briefly left the Big East Tournament championship game Saturday after a lower body injury during the second half against St. John’s at Madison Square Garden.
Demary went down with just over nine minutes remaining after attempting a layup. He stayed on the court while holding his left foot and ankle area and later walked to the locker room under his own power.
The Huskies can breathe a sigh of relief as Demary returned to the UConn bench a few minutes later. He checked back into the game and finished with six points. UConn ended up losing 72-52.
Demary has been a key piece for UConn throughout the season, entering Saturday leading the Huskies with 6.3 assists and 1.6 steals per game while averaging 11 points and 4.6 rebounds.

Saturday marked the third meeting this season between UConn and St. John’s. The Red Storm won the first matchup 81-72 on Feb. 6 before the Huskies responded with a dominant 72-40 victory in Storrs.
UConn is still a No. 2 seed, according to ESPN's Joe Lunardi latest bracketology.
