The weekend provided some separation in the league, as well as a four-car pileup for third place. Florida edged Kentucky to retain possession of first place, and Arkansas took care of business with Auburn to leap Kentucky for second. Behind them are Vanderbilt, Tennessee, Alabama, and Kentucky, who are all 8-4 and all, except for the Cats, are coming off wins.
Elsewhere in the league, Oklahoma won its second straight game, following up its 1-point upset over Vanderbilt with a 16-point embarrassment of Georgia, which put an ugly loss on the Bulldogs’ resume. Mississippi also beat Ole Miss in the basketball version of the Egg Bowl, and Missouri fell apart at home in a 17-point loss to Texas, which gave the Longhorns a much-needed Quad 1 road win for their tournament hopes. Six games to go in the regular season. Let’s break down this week’s SEC standings:

- Texas A&M has now lost four straight after a 13-point loss to Vanderbilt in Nashville. Fortunately, they face Ole Miss and Oklahoma in their next two, so they have a great bounce-back opportunity this week.
- Kentucky’s next two are hosting Georgia and traveling to Auburn. The Cats will definitely be favored in the first, but the road environment could make the second one tricky.
- Arkansas has won six of its last seven games, with the only loss in that stretch coming to Kentucky at home. The schedule gets tougher in the latter half of the month, however, as they travel to Alabama, host Mizzou and Texas A&M, and then take on Florida in Gainesville.
- Currently, 11 SEC teams are projected to make the bracket at ESPN, with Missouri being the last team in the field.
- The biggest game of the midweek slate will be in Tuscaloosa: Alabama is taking on Arkansas in what will be a ranked-on-ranked showdown and also a battle for second place in the standings. Wednesday night at 7 pm on ESPN: Tide and Hogs.
