The midweek action was pretty “meh”. Almost all the favorites won, and there weren’t any ranked vs. ranked games. The only game that raised any eyebrows was the Missouri-Texas A&M one, where the Tigers went to College Station and knocked off the Aggies 86-85 thanks to a go-ahead dunk from Shawn Phillips Jr. in the final seconds. That improved Mizzou to a tie with the Aggies and several others for 4th at 7-4. Both teams are now 17-7 overall, but while the Tigers have been on the rise, the Aggies will have to stop the bleeding of a 3-game losing streak in Nashville against the Vanderbilt Commodores, who have not been an easy out for anyone this season.
Seven games to go till the SEC Tournament. March is just around the corner. Let’s get into this week’s SEC standings:

- Kentucky will take on Florida this weekend in Gainesville in a battle for first place. They are currently double-digit underdogs, but have won in hostile environments before and shown the ability to claw back from large deficits to win late. If Florida is going to win this game, they are going to have to be 100% locked in and take care of the basketball.
- Georgia is 17-7 but only 5-6 in the league heading into this week’s trip to last-place Oklahoma. If the Bulldogs are going to make the NCAA Tournament games like this are must-win games. Or “must not-lose” games, to be more accurate.
- Mississippi State and Ole Miss face each other in Oxford for a basketball Egg Bowl. Not many outside of the state will tune into the game, but for those 11-13 schools it’ll mean quite a bit.
- Texas is at Missouri in a big opportunity for the Longhorns’ resume. The Tigers are relatively safe inside the bracket, but Texas’s mouth is watering at the prospect of getting a Quad 1 road win and improving to 16-9 instead of sliding to 15-10.
- Auburn’s NCAA Tournament case is on thin ice. If they win at Arkansas Saturday they can get on more stable ground. If not they might crash through into the ocean.
