The St. John’s Red Storm are on a hot streak right now, and they will look to continue their winning ways under head coach Rick Pitino against the Connecticut Huskies.
Ranked 15th in the latest AP top 25 poll, the Red Storm have won their last 13 games and are sitting atop the standings in the Big East. In their last game Saturday against the Creighton Bluejays, they registered a dominating 81-52 victory on the back of guard Bryce Hopkins, who scored 15 points and 10 rebounds, his second straight double-double.
Apart from Hopkins, guard Dylan Darling and forward Zubio Ejiofor and also made key contributions, scoring 17 and 15 points respectively. In yet another game on the road, the Red Storm will now be up against No. 6 UConn.

Just hours before the game, Pitino shared an update from Hartford, Connecticut, where the team will play the Huskies. Instead of focusing purely on the upcoming game, Pitino reflected on the time with his team while enjoying breakfast.
“Just finished breakfast in Hartford with the team,” Pitino posted on X. “13 players and 5 coaches and a special priest. All looking at their phones.”
It’s a scenario many coaches likely face working with young people in today’s tech-driven world.
Just finished breakfast in Hartford with the team. 13 players and 5 coaches and a special priest. All looking at their phones. No conversing 🤦🏻♂️ -Next discussion coming with my wonderful group 😀

Shifting the focus back to Wednesday’s game, it will be the second meeting this month between the Red Storm and the Huskies. When they last met in New York on Feb. 6, Pitino’s team snatched an 81-72 victory in the final minutes.
Now on the road, Pitino and squad would like to keep the momentum going with a 14th straight win. The home team, on the other hand, will look to avoid four consecutive losses to St. John’s for the first time since the 1980s. From February 1981 to January 1989, UConn lost 17 straight meetings.
Tip-off for Wednesday’s game is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET at PeoplesBank Arena and will air on Peacock.
