Kentucky basketball is humming to start the week after an impressive victory over the No. 15 Arkansas Razorbacks on Saturday. As far as rankings go, it was the best win of the season for Kentucky and even sweeter for Big Blue fans that is came against former head coach John Calipari.
The win had to also feel good for the team being able to survive all-time theatrics from official Doug Shows — calling three technical fouls in 38 seconds — and pull themselves together late to come out on top.
Now standing at 6-3 in Southeastern Conference Play, Kentucky has a favorable matchup to further improve this Wednesday when Kentucky faces Oklahoma at Rupp Arena. Following Wednesday’s game, Kentucky will have another home matchup and their second of the season against Tennessee where they are slightly favored to win.
If Kentucky can pull off two victories this week, a peak at the Top-25 rankings may be possible.
For now, EvanMiya and Haslametrics both have the Wildcats at No. 29 while DRatings has them slightly higher at No. 26.
For the women’s team, they found a win over Arkansas themselves to finally snap their 3-game losing streak.
Clara Strack continues to dominate SEC play and the Wildcats will continue to run their offense through her.
They host Vanderbilt this Thursday at Historic Memorial Coliseum before a road matchup at Texas next Monday.
