Mercy Miller delivered one of the most electrifying dunks of the college basketball season Monday night.
The Houston sophomore went soaring for a thunderous one-handed poster moment in the No. 2 Cougars’ 70-67 loss to No. 6 Iowa State.
With just over six minutes remaining in the first half, Miller drove past his defender on the right wing, sliced into the paint and elevated over a rotating Cyclones big man. He cocked the ball back and slammed it home with one hand, sending replays flying all over social media.

Miller, the son of president of basketball operations and assistant coach at the University of New Orleans Percy Miller, is in his second season under coach Kelvin Sampson. After playing sparingly as a freshman, he has seen increased minutes as Houston manages the workload of its starters.
Despite Miller’s highlight, the Cougars could not hold off Iowa State down the stretch. Houston led 60-53 with 8:28 remaining but was outscored 17-7 the rest of the way.

Kingston Flemings led the Cougars with 22 points on 9-of-15 shooting in 37 minutes, including 4 of 5 from 3-point range. Emanuel Sharp added 16 points, Milos Uzan had 11 points and six assists, and Chris Cenac Jr. grabbed 12 rebounds.
Houston fell to 23-3 overall and 11-2 in Big 12 play but remains atop the conference standings. The Cougars return home Feb. 21 to host No. 4 Arizona.
