Kentucky Basketball cracks the top 25 in Evan Miya’s preseason rankings

Basketball season is just a few weeks away, which means we’re going to start seeing more and more preseason rankings released.

Evan Miya, the well-known college basketball analytics guru behind EvanMiya.com, is set to release his preseason rankings this week, but we’ve already seen a preview of his top 30. In those rankings, Kentucky comes in at #18.

Evan Miya is pretty high on the SEC coming into the season, with 10 teams cracking the top 30 list. Kentucky comes in as the 6th-ranked team in the SEC, according to Evan’s predictions. In a big year for Mark Pope, Kentucky will once again have a tough path to travel through the conference slate.

Kentucky’s non-conference slate also includes matchups against #11 Louisville, #22 Virginia, and #28 Kansas.

There are some interesting placements on this list. For example, LSU at #17 is an interesting choice since Will Wade’s roster has a lot of eligibility questions at this point. Ryan Hammer followed up on Twitter (or X) and noted that the rankings are based off the notion that every team gets all of the players they are trying to roster.

Kentucky fans will also be drawn to the Cats being ranked one spot ahead of John Calipari’s Arkansas Razorbacks.

What do you think about Evan Miya’s preseason rankings?
