The Indiana Fever are blessed with a backcourt duo that is individually in the running for the 2026 regular-season MVP award. This year, stars Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell have routinely put up amazing numbers while sharing the ball. While Mitchell operates as the Fever’s go-to scorer, Clark fills the void as a facilitator while putting up impressive scoring totals of her own. With how well they have shared the basketball this season, onlookers are pushing that the two of them could become the first co-MVPs as teammates in WNBA history. In fact, the Fever themselves are pushing the idea, uploading a video to their X/Twitter page on Thursday.
Some WNBA fans feel that the Fever’s tribute video is unwarranted as they believe that Clark and Mitchell are being limited by their own team.
“Yet, it’s being squandered by most incompetent coaching staff + FO ever. SW speaks in clichés to give illusion she’s COACHING but we have enough evidence that Big 3 were headed for greatness + championships 3 yrs ago! This staff has gotten in the way + made it MUCH harder to win,” one fan wrote.
Other users on X/Twitter asserted that a video like the one the Fever uploaded can jinx both Clark and Mitchell’s regular-season MVP odds.
While Clark and Mitchell have been a fantastic backcourt this year, the Fever are in the middle of the pack in terms of playoff contention. Indiana (25-14) is second in the Eastern Conference standings, but would be the fifth seed overall if the playoffs started today. The Fever are coming off a 113-90 victory over the Chicago Sky on Sunday.
Las Vegas Aces center A’ja Wilson leads 2026 WNBA regular season MVP race
While both Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell have each put up 2026 campaigns that can put them in regular season MVP contention, reigning MVP A’ja Wilson still leads the race. The Las Vegas Aces star is chasing a historic fifth MVP award, which would also be her third consecutive if she wins it, as she is averaging 26.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.4 steals and 2.0 blocks per contest. In Clark’s case, she is tallying 22.1 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 8.3 apg and 0.9 spg. Meanwhile, Mitchell is posting 24.8 ppg, 1.7 rpg, 2.8 apg and 1.1 spg. Another factor that separates Wilson from the two is her team record. The Aces are currently the third seed overall with a 26-13 record.
