The Las Vegas Aces (26-13) have struggled to keep pace with the Minnesota Lynx and Golden State Valkyries in the WNBA standings, but A’ja Wilson continues to cruise toward her third straight MVP Award and fifth overall. While Olivia Miles and Caitlin Clark both have compelling cases, the superstar forward is widely regarded as the heavy favorite. The only thing that can seemingly stop her is health.
Wilson popped up on a stuffed injury report ahead of Friday’s home matchup versus the Toronto Tempo (11-27). The three-time champion and two-time Finals MVP has played in 36 of 39 Aces games this season, but with the FIBA Women’s World Cup and WNBA playoffs on the horizon, head coach Becky Hammon may want to monitor her juggernaut’s status and workload.
The Tempo are already severely shorthanded, but if Wilson is inactive, then perhaps the expansion squad can make things interesting in Michelob ULTRA Arena. The two-way powerhouse led the reigning champs to a road victory over Toronto last Sunday, and fans are eager to see if she will have the chance to do the same tonight.

Latest injury updates for Aces-Tempo clash
Wilson is listed questionable with a back issue, per the latest WNBA injury report. Frontcourt mate NaLyssa Smith suffered a brutal leg injury in Las Vegas’ 88-78 win in Toronto and will be sidelined for the remainder of the season, putting a bigger burden on No. 22 and the team’s other core players moving forward.
Perhaps Dana Evans can lend a helping hand. The veteran guard is considered questionable after missing the previous six games with a leg injury of her own. The Tempo can certainly relate to the Aces’ recent run of bad luck.
Toronto is shutting down both Brittney Sykes (foot) and Aneesah Morrow (knee) for the rest of the 2026 campaign, and leading scorer Marina Mabrey will be reevaluated in a few weeks after sustaining an abductor injury. Isabelle Harrison is questionable (foot).
Obviously, head coach Sandy Brondello has a challenging final stretch ahead of her. With or without A’ja Wilson, Vegas should have enough to protect its house. The free-falling Tempo have nothing to lose, however, and could come out scrapping in this David versus Goliath battle.
