Despite being the best basketball player the University of Iowa has ever seen, Caitlin Clark is receiving some backlash this weekend from Hawkeyes fans.
Clark, a two-time AP Player of the Year, led the Hawkeyes to a pair of Final Four appearances during her college career. She averaged 28.4 points per game en route to becoming the NCAA's all-time leading scorer.
The women's basketball team for Iowa had its season cut short this past Monday in the Round of 32. The men's team, however, will compete in the Elite Eight this Saturday against Illinois.
As of this Saturday afternoon, Clark hasn't posted anything about the success Iowa is having in the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament. What head coach Ben McCollum has accomplished this March is nothing short of remarkable.
With that being said, Iowa fans are annoyed that Clark hasn't said anything about her alma mater.
"Not a peep from Caitlin Clark regarding the Men’s run to the Elite 8. Current and former Hawkeye athletes from all sports have been voicing their support, yet not a word from the most famous athlete of them all. Wonder why that is?? Disappointing," an Iowa fan wrote on social media.
"Her boyfriend is a bitter McCaffrey," another social media user commented. "16 years of support for the McCaffrey family from most Hawk fans, despite mediocre results."

Caitlin Clark's supporters fire back.
While some Iowa fans are frustrated with Clark's silence, others believe there's zero reason to send her harsh messages online.
"Cry me a river. Ya, I’m sure she just hates her alma mater," one fan said.
"Why is a grown man concerned about what Caitlin does or doesn’t post on social media media She doesn’t owe you anything," a second fan replied.
"How do you know she’s not texting them directly? Judgmental much," another fan added.
Iowa and Illinois will tip off this Saturday at 6:09 p.m. ET on TBS. Oddsmakers have the Fighting Illini as 6.5-point favorites.
We'll see if Iowa reaches its first Final Four since 1980.
