The Providence College men's basketball team has won two consecutive Big East games for the first time in a year. The Friars dominated DePaul in a 90-72 victory on Saturday, Feb. 7, at the Amica Mutual Pavilion, after a dramatic, double-overtime win over Butler at the same venue on Wednesday, Feb. 4.“Good win for us, good home cooking back-to-back games,” head coach Kim English said. “We’ve had a good week — a good week of prep, a good week of work.”
It’s Providence's first Big East win streak since last January when it defeated Georgetown and Seton Hall in two straight.
Meanwhile, Seton Hall has lost its last two contests, both away from home, at Villanova, 72-60, on Feb. 4, and at Creighton in a close one, 69-68, on Feb. 7.“Good win for us, good home cooking back-to-back games,” Providence head coach Kim English said. “We’ve had a good week — a good week of prep, a good week of work.”
The visiting Blue Demons entered Saturday one game ahead of the Friars in the Big East standings but never led. The Friars excelled at the offensive end, shooting 59% from the field.Jason Edwards starred with a game-high 25 points. He had just returned from a long layoff, since early January, after suffering a foot injury. Jaylin Sellers added 21 and Ryan Mela scored 16.
Providence had lost four in a row and seven of eight before the Butler game.

The Friars will face the Pirates at in Newark, N.J., on Wednesday, Feb. 11. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
