The college basketball coaching carousel continues to spin as the NCAA Tournament field is now down to 16 teams.
Kansas State got a head start as it hired Belmont's Casey Alexander as the new head coach. And, one day after Troy's Round of 64 loss to Nebraska, head coach Scott Cross was named the coach at Georgia Tech.
Now, another change has been made, but this job won't be available due to a head-coach-in-waiting agreement.
Creighton coach Greg McDermott has decided to retire, which means former High Point coach Alan Huss is taking over.
ESPN's Pete Thamel first reported the news, and Creighton sent out a statement shortly after.

“It has been an incredible honor to lead the Creighton men’s basketball program for the past 16 years,” said McDermott. “I’m very proud of the young men that have proudly worn the Bluejay uniform and represented our program in a first-class manner. Witnessing their growth and development on and off the playing floor was especially gratifying."
McDermott spent five seasons as the head coach at Northern Iowa and four at Iowa State before spending the final 16 years of his career at Creighton.
McDermott's final career resume includes a 514-319 record with 13 NCAA Tournament appearances.
Get to Know Alan Huss
A year ago, Huss left High Point to become an assistant at Creighton, and it turned out to be a head-coach-in-waiting role, which is what Brian Dutcher did under Steve Fisher at San Diego State.
Huss, who played at Creighton from 1997–2001, coached high school and college prep schools before becoming an assistant at New Mexico.
He then returned to Creighton as an assistant in 2017 before taking the High Point job in 2023.

So, Creighton was preparing for McDermott to retire, and Huss got an extra season to learn from McDermott as he now takes over the program in Omaha.
Creighton finished with a disappointing 15-17 record, which saw the Bluejays NCAA Tournament streak come to an end, but the future continues to look bright with Huss taking over the program.
