Kentucky Basketball will host a Bluegrass native this week, as USC transfer Gabe Dynes is set to visit Lexington on Wednesday, according to On3’s Joe Tipton. The Louisville Cardinals will host Dynes the following day.
NC State and Georgia are among other schools in the mix.
A 7-foot-5, 214-pound product of Simon Kenton High School in Independence (KY), Dynes appeared in 30 games (six starts) this past season for the Trojans, averaging 2.9 points (78.8% shooting but 35.3% on free throws), 2.3 rebounds, and 1.0 blocks in 11.9 minutes per contest.
Dynes’ most notable performance saw him record 14 points (6/7 shooting), five rebounds, three assists, three blocks, and one steal across 32 minutes in an 87-67 win over Illinois State. He previously spent two seasons at Youngstown State before transferring to USC this past offseason.
With just one season of eligibility remaining (unless he redshirts), Dynes is an intriguing prospect who could become a quality backup, so this is worth monitoring for a Kentucky roster that only has Malachi Moreno and Reece Potter as true centers.
