Chris Mack has been named the new head coach at the University of South Florida, the school announced on Wednesday, March 25.
"(USF) Bulls basketball has incredible momentum, and we've found an outstanding coach and leader to elevate our program to the next level," USF CEO of Athletics Rob Higgins said in a statement.
Mack, 56, replaces Bryan Hodgson, who was just introduced as the new head coach at Providence after leading USF to American Conference regular-season and conference titles and the NCAA Tournament in his lone season.

Mack spent nine seasons as the head coach at Xavier from 2009-2018 and is the program's all-time leader in wins (215). He led the Musketeers to the NCAA Tournament eight times, including four Sweet 16 trips and an Elite Eight appearance in 2017.
Mack left Xavier for Louisville after being a No. 1 seed in the 2018 NCAA Tournament. He led Louisville to the NCAA Tournament in his first season, then had the Cardinals (24-7) in position for a March Madness bid in 2020 before the season was canceled by the pandemic.
Mack was fired at Louisville during the 2021-22 season. After a two-year hiatus, he returned to college basketball as the head coach at the College of Charleston in 2024. In two seasons, Mack led the Cougars to a 45-20 overall record.
