Michigan State has landed one of its biggest targets in the 2027 recruiting class.
Five-star point guard Antonio Pemberton announced his commitment to Michigan State on Friday afternoon. He joined the CBS Sports YouTube channel to make the announcement live.
The Spartans were featured in the final eight for Pemberton along with Kansas, Boston College, Creighton, Marquette, Tennessee, Ohio State, and UCLA.
Pemberton made multiple visits to different campuses but there was a sense that the Spartans gained an early edge after his trip to East Lansing.
A product of Masters Academy International, Pemberton is currently ranked as the top player in Massachusetts and No. 20 player in the nation overall. He is also slated as the No. 5 point guard, according to 247Sports. Pemberton climbed up rankings quickly with big-time performances in the summer.
Pemberton put up big numbers for Mass Rivals in July, including 22 points per game in the 3Stripes Select Basketball Circuit. He has drawn comparisons to Jalen Brunson and Ben Gordon because of his efficiency and ability to make difficult shots. He is also a willing passer who gets his teammates involved throughout the game.
Pemberton is the first commit in what has the chance to be an elite recruiting class for head coach Tom Izzo. The Spartans have been in on many of the top players in the nation at multiple positions and have just landed what might be the next great point guard to come through East Lansing.
Spartans fans, how are we feeling after the commitment from Antonio Pemberton?
