Villanova has done a lot this offseason to rebuild its frontcourt in the transfer portal.
Now, a familiar name has become available but is he no longer a fit for the Wildcats?
Duke Brennan has received interest from many big-name programs for a fifth year of eligibility, according to his agent Earl Flaggs. Villanova is on the lengthy list for the big man, which is no surprise given the success that Brennan had with the Wildcats last year.
Brennan has also heard from North Carolina, USC, Oregon, Ole Miss, Oklahoma, UConn, and Georgetown.
The 6-foot-10 center spent last season at Villanova. He averaged 12.4 points and 10.3 rebounds per game while shooting 65.8% from the floor. Brennan tied a program record with 14 double-doubles as he was a driving force at the Wildcats returning to the NCAA Tournament.
In the offseason, Kevin Willard brought in Kwame Evans Jr. and Luigi Suigo, who are expected to make up a new-look frontcourt.
Oregon has been in constant contact with Brennan, according to reports. It would make sense as Evans Jr. is now with the Wildcats. Another happening to keep an eye on is that USC big man Eric Reibe underwent foot surgery on Friday and will miss time. This means that the Trojans now have a need at center.
Even with the additions Villanova has made, having Brennan back would be a huge development and one that fans would welcome with open arms. The question is, would Brennan return to a spot where he is likely to come off the bench?
