With the college basketball season tipping off, recruiting visits are heating up for Mark Pope and the Kentucky Wildcats.
We have already seen CJ Rosser, Reese Alston, Lewis Uvwo, and Paul Osaruyi visit over the past month, and another 5-star prospect is now on campus.
Last Friday, 5-star forward DeMarcus Henry said he would visit Kentucky this week.
Now, KSR’s Jack Pilgrim has confirmed Henry is beginning his official visit on Monday.
Henry, a 6-foot-7, 190-pound small forward, is considered the No. 2 prospect in the class of 2027 and the No. 1 small forward, according to Rivals. As with any top-five prospect, all the major schools are in the chase, but he has already completed visits to Louisville, UConn, and Arkansas.
Over the summer, Henry trimmed his list to eight schools, including Kentucky, North Carolina, BYU, Louisville, UConn, Kansas, Ohio State, and Arkansas.
Pope and his staff have once again got plenty of recruits on campus, but the question still remains as to whether any will be added to the class alongside Ryan Hampton. If they can land Henry, that would be another major recruiting win for this staff.
Not all news is good, as 5-star point guard Nasir Anderson has canceled his planned visit with Kentucky, according to Pilgrim. Anderson was set to visit this week, and while he’s not ruling out rescheduling, nothing is planned right now.
Anderson, listed at 6-foot-3 and 220 pounds, plays for Prolific Prep in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Rivals currently ranks him No. 15 overall and No. 6 point guard. He recently trimmed his list to 10 schools, which includes Kentucky, North Carolina, UConn, Providence, Syracuse, Indiana, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, and Virginia.
With the Wildcats potentially returning Zoom Diallo, Alex Wilkins, Mason Williams, and Jerone Morton next year, it will be difficult for Pope to convince a highly touted point guard to come here and compete with those guys for playing time.
Unless something changes, it doesn’t appear Kentucky will be a serious suitor for Anderson moving forward.
