UConn’s hopes of securing a share of the Big East regular season title ended Saturday with a 68-62 loss to Marquette, but the final seconds of the game quickly became the main story.

Frustration boils over late

With the Huskies trailing in the closing moments, UConn guard Silas Demary Jr. drove to the basket looking to tie the game. Demary appeared to take contact on the play but no foul was called, and his layup attempt missed.

Head coach Dan Hurley immediately reacted to the no-call, arguing with officials near the sideline. During the exchange, Hurley made contact with one of the referees, which led to an automatic ejection with only seconds remaining.

Conference review possible

The ejection ended Hurley’s day on the bench, but the situation may not be finished.
