Rob Wright had a career high for the second game in a row as BYU beat Colorado in overtime 90-86 Saturday afternoon.
The bigger story of the game was that Richie Saunders left the game in the first minute with a non-contact knee injury. Richie’s wife and parents joined him in the locker room and Richie did not return to the bench. The prognosis seems ominous.
Rob Wright was the star for BYU, setting a career high with 39 points one game after going for 30 points at Baylor. Rob did a great job finishing from everywhere on the floor, shooting 12-16 from the field and 11-13 at the foul line. AJ Dybantsa shot just 6-20 and had 7 turnovers, but AJ finished with 20 points, 13 rebounds, and 8 assists.
Alexsej Kostic made two threes off the bench, including a big one in overtime that put BYU up 85-82. BYU has a team shot 11-22 from three while the Buffs shot 9-32 (28%). Colorado won the turnover battle 16-7, which was a big factor that allowed them to stay in the game.
Things get considerably harder next week when BYU travels to #1 Arizona Wednesday and hosts #5 Iowa State next Saturday.
