The Wisconsin Badgers had been relatively quiet over the first week of the transfer portal as they looked to see who would be available and what players best fit their system. Well, a couple of those dominoes are starting to fall, and the biggest one was announced on Saturday afternoon, as Miami (OH) transfer guard Eian Elmer has committed to the Badgers.

A four-star transfer prospect on 247Sports, Elmer was a coveted guard in the transfer portal that the Badgers fought to get to campus and eventually got a commitment from. Playing on a very successful Miami (OH) team this year, the 6’6, 215-pound junior averaged 12.7 points and 5.9 rebounds per game, while shooting 49.8 percent from the field and 42.9 percent from three.

It was another step forward for Elmer this year, who averaged 11.0 points and 4.7 rebounds as a sophomore, while shooting 47.3 percent from the field and 40.0 percent from deep in 2024-25. Now, the multi-year starter will join the Badgers and fill a key need on the wing in 2026.

Elmer had some standout games this season, including in Miami (OH)’s 89-79 win in the First Four of the NCAA Tournament, where he dropped 24 points on 8 of 11 from the field to help the Redhawks in the win.

He becomes the third transfer addition for Wisconsin, joining George Washington guard Trey Autry and Hofstra center Victory Onetu, as the Badgers look to round out their team for the 2025-26 season.

Wisconsin has splashed with some big hits in the transfer portal before. We’ll see how next year’s team fares, but the roster is slowly coming along.
