Arizona men’s basketball held steady at No. 2 in this week’s Associated Press rankings.
Arizona received four first-place votes, behind No. 1 Duke’s 56 top votes. No. 3 Michigan also received one first-place vote.
Arizona is ranked in the top five for the 17th straight week, the third-longest streak in program history.
The Wildcats have wins over the teams ranked No. 4-7 in the AP poll: No. 4 Florida, No. 5 Houston, No. 6 UConn and No. 7 Iowa State. Arizona also has victories over No. 14 Kansas and No. 15 Alabama.
Arizona could pick up two more ranked wins this week at the Big 12 Tournament in Kansas City, Mo. If Arizona gets by its quarterfinal opponent – UCF or the winner of Cincinnati vs. Utah – the UA would likely face either Iowa State or No. 16 Texas Tech in the semifinals.
Kansas and Houston potentially await in the conference tournament championship game.
Arizona already has 15 Quad 1 wins this season, tied for Duke for most in the country. The Wildcats rank No. 3 in the NCAA NET Rankings behind Duke and Michigan.
