The WNBA is officially in the home stretch of the season, and the eight playoff teams have already been decided. Now, those eight squads are vying for seeding. One of the most important battles in the standings is between the Atlanta Dream and Indiana Fever, who entered Friday night as the fourth and fifth seeds, respectively.
However, those spots flipped by the end of the night, with the Fever defeating the Connecticut Sun 111-91 and the Dream getting blown out by the Portland Fire 101-83. The loss means that Atlanta would now have to cede home-court advantage to Indiana for the first round if the season ended today.
However, making matters worse for Atlanta, superstar forward Angel Reese was assessed her eighth technical foul of the season after shoving a Fire player in the back after the pair got tangled, which means that unless the tech is rescinded, she’ll be suspended for Sunday’s critical game against the current No. 1 seed Minnesota Lynx.

Fans on social media debated whether or not the technical foul would be rescinded ahead of Sunday’s game.
“I doubt it will be rescinded,” one fan posted on X.
“Horrible call. She better get the same treatment as someone else did for the 8th tech,” another fan added, referencing Fever guard Caitlin Clark’s eighth technical being quickly rescinded.
“(Of course) they aren’t going to rescind that,” someone else wrote.
If the technical isn’t overturned, Reese has left her teammates in a very tough spot for Sunday.
