Writing ACC previews is a lot harder than it used to be. First, there are 18 teams now, and second, with so many players suing for a fifth year, it’s next to impossible to keep everyone straight.
We started our previews in August, we’ll finish them Monday, and several are already outdated.
Here is a list of players who may or may not suit up for the start of the season.
- Ven-Allen Lubin – will apparently be back at NC State this fall.
- Malik Reanu – he’s officially on Miami’s roster again
- Seth Trimble – still in limbo at Louisville
- Nate Calmese – apparently no official word on the former Wake Forest star
- Dallin Hall – no official word on the former Virginia guard
- Butta Johnson – won’t be back at Clemson, but may get to play at Virginia Tech. The NCAA is appealing.
- Cameron Fens – the South Dakota transfer to UNC is currently ineligible.
A couple of significant transfers out of the ACC are still in limbo. Former FSU forward Chauncey Wiggins has committed to Gonzaga, but cannot currently practice or play, and former Clemson forward RJ Godfrey, who committed to Arizona, is currently still seen as ineligible.
