The 2026 Men’s College World Series is just around the corner.
While the entire Field of 64 will be announced on Monday May 25 — Selection Monday as it were — teams are already securing automatic bids to the tournament. In total, 29 automatic bids are up for grabs, based on the results of the various conference tournaments around the country. Yale was the first team to secure a bid, as the winners of the Ivy League, followed by Holy Cross out of the Patriot League.
On Friday night Lamar joined the field, using a stunning six-game run through the Southland Conference tournament to secure a spot. The Cardinals lost their first game in bracket play, then won four consecutive games in the loser’s bracket to keep their hopes for a conference title alive.
More spots will be decided over the weekend, including in the ACC tournament, the Big Ten tournament, and the SEC tournament.
