Tyler Tejada, 6-9 forward, makes it official with Cincinnati Bearcats

The Cincinnati Bearcats men’s basketball team has signed forward Tyler Tejada for the 2026-27 season, first-year head coach Jerrod Calhoun announced Wednesday, April 29. Tejada, the 2025 Coastal Athletic Association Player of the Year, has one year of eligibility remaining.

The 6-foot-9, 230-pound Tejada from Teaneck, New Jersey, committed to the Bearcats on April 13.

“When you think about Tyler, you think about versatility and a guy who can play multiple positions,” Calhoun said. “Tyler played for a really good defensive-minded coach in Pat Skerry, so there’s a toughness level that he will bring. But I love his versatility to play a lot of different positions.”

Tejada played in 93 games, making 83 starts, over three seasons with the Tigers. For his career, he’s averaged 14.6 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game, shooting 42.8% from the field, 32.3% from 3-point range and 85.7% from the free-throw line.

Towson Tigers guard Tyler Tejada (15) controls the ball as Houston Cougars guard Emanuel Sharp (21) defends last Nov. 8. Now with the Cincinnati Bearcats, Tejada will have new opportunities against Houston in the Big 12.

As a junior last season, Tejada played in 32 games, averaging 17.7 points, 5.5 boards and 2.3 assists, while shooting 43.2% from the field and 88.2% from the foul line. He scored in double figures in 29 games, including 12 games of 20 or more points and three games of 30-plus. Tejada was named to the All-Coastal Athletic Association Tournament team after averaging 31.3 points per game, shooting 52.5% from the field and connecting on 23-of-24 attempts from the free-throw line.

Tejada was the CAA Player of the Year in 2024-25 and CAA Rookie of the Year in his first season.
